My artwork is inspired by the essence of nature. I am intrigued by nature’s intricate patterns, colors, and organic shapes. Flowers, in particular, are a continuous source of inspiration. They spark in me the desire to capture their blueprint and translate it into the canvas. I find great joy in expressing my love for nature through art. While walking in a garden, I see fascinating patterns everywhere. That vision is usually the initial idea for a painting.
When beginning a piece, I use a compass, a ruler, and a protractor to draw the underlying geometric patterns that I see in my mind’s eyes. I design the botanical forms to flow naturally within an abstract, contemporary composition. Using oils, acrylics, and mixed media, I apply multiple layers of paint to build a rich texture. Sometimes I remove the paint by scratching the surface to reveal the history and tell the understory of the canvas.
The painting comes to life when a delicate balance between structure and spontaneity is achieved. I love creating movement and stillness simultaneously on the surface. People who see my work often say: “I feel peaceful just looking at your art. It makes me smile.” or “ I feel the pulsating life force emanating from your canvas. Your art touches my soul. It makes me feel happy.” I enjoy reading testimonials like these because it is exactly what I want to achieve through my work.
The purpose of my art is simple. I want to capture the essence of nature and convey it into a painting that inspires, connects and evokes feelings of joy.
